Arminianism
From Encyclopedia Reformata
A system of doctrine which regards God’s actions as limited by and dependent upon the free actions of man. This system derives its name from a Dutch theologian named Jacobus Arminius who died in 1609. Arminian theology was adopted by John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church and is popular in Fundamentalist churches. It was condemned by the Reformed Churches at the Synod of Dort in 1618.
